Statement of intent
How do you use the four areas of the media theotetrical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? approx 400 words
How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief?
Product 1-
In my media product that will appeal to 16-25-year olds, I will include a barcode, date, edition and price on every front cover and I will use original images and edit my magazines front cover or contents pages and this may include photos, text, graphics, typography and the layout. I need to make the first two editions of my magazine and this will include the front covers and the content pages. I also need to represent two different social groups on both the magazine (such as gender, race, age, ethnicity or sexuality) and I will be using a female and male on my front covers, with the male intending to attract the female audience. I will also use written text including elements such as the masthead, main cover line, selling lines, headlines, captions and subtitles. I would like the layout to be more minimalistic than other real- life magazines that I have looked at, such as ‘Chat’, with a bold masthead in the same place and font on every cover to create a brand identity and a cover star to the right side of the page and the main cover line to the left of the cover star.
Product 2-
On my online version of my magazine I will have one homepage and one linked page that will be similar visually to my paper magazine in that the branding of the masthead will be the same and the layout will be similar, with a similar colour palette too. On the online version, the web pages must promote the new real- life magazine to its target audience and enable fans to interact with the content. I need to use appropriate conventions of website such as the correct design, including an original title, logo and a menu bar. On both my magazine and my online products, I intend to not use bold colours such as red and bright yellow. In my research that I did of 16-25-year olds, I discovered bold colours like red and bright yellow would push them away from the magazine, so more subtle colours would be more suitable such as pinks and blues. I need to include realistic stories on my products, and some on celebrity gossip to attract to my audience.I would like themes such as celebrities, fashion, relationships and gossip as it is a real-life magazine.
How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production?
In my magazine product, I will make a clear link to the website to encourage my audience to look at it, by using something interesting to pull them into going on there, such as a teaser or giveaway. To target my audience, I may also promote my other social media accounts as this would be very fitting to my intended audience. I will have the link from the paper magazine very visible on the homepage so this allows the audience to easily see and access what they may be after easily without having to hunt around the website, fitting the audience needs. A QR code will be put on my contents page that takes my audience directly to the website.
